Togal.AI Founder Named Miami Tech Leader

MIAMI, FLORIDA – The founder and CEO of the start-up tech company Togal.AI was named a Miami Tech Leader tonight at the Miami Leaders in Technology 2022 event at Bodega in Miami Beach sponsored by Patrón Tequila.

Patrick Murphy, a millennial and former U.S. Congressman, launched the artificial intelligence company to revolutionize the estimating process in construction, allowing builders to finish big projects faster and more accurately.

“The construction industry is ripe for disruption and innovation. Artificial intelligence is simply accelerating the way we build,” Patrick Murphy, Togal.AI Founder and CEO said. “Togal.AI allows contractors to meet the rising demand for new construction at a time when labor shortages are a real problem.”

Togal.AI uses proprietary AI algorithms to automatically and accurately detect, label, and measure project spaces, walls & objects within seconds.

“For big projects, this is a huge time saver. We are taking weeks of work and compressing it into seconds,” Murphy added.

Before Togal, estimators measured the square footage of rooms manually with rollers and rulers, or by dragging a computer mouse over each area to label it. Plans for major projects can be hundreds of pages, taking weeks to complete. Togal finishes those jobs in mere seconds.

The software can also auto-detect and label room and wall types, and users can overlay older versions of plans with updated ones. Easily identifying key changes in plans is critical to avoid some of the costliest mistakes made in estimating.

“Togal is saving crews both time and money, so estimators can focus on building better jobs. The software is already getting rave reviews,” Murphy said.

Togal has been featured in Engineering News-Record (ENR), The Real Deal, Construction Dive, Construction Executive, the South Florida Business Journal, Florida Trend, Florida Construction News, Construction Equipment Guide, Constructech, Tribe, Cafecito Talk with Miami Mayor Francis Suarez and other outlets and publications.

In addition to overseeing Togal, Murphy serves as Executive Vice President of Coastal Construction, the largest General Contractor in Florida. He first started in the construction industry as a day laborer, then project engineer, estimating assistant and accounting manager. After graduating from the University of Miami, Murphy worked at Deloitte where he earned his CPA license that he maintains today.

Murphy served in U.S. Congress, representing Palm Beach and Treasure Coast in the House of Representatives from 2013 to 2017, and was the nominee for the U.S. Senate in 2016. After leaving office in 2017, he was named chair of the Future Forum Foundation, a nonprofit organization that researches key issues impacting millennials, such as automation, artificial intelligence, and the sharing economy.
