Does Togal work as wood framing takeoff software, or only metal stud?

Both. Assemblies templates cover wood and metal framing, and the measuring side treats them the same, since a wall run is a wall run until your assembly decides what fills it. The difference is in the formulas you apply.

Do I get a material list, or only measurements?

Both, in one pass. Classify a wall and Togal calculates the material, labor, and equipment attached to it from formulas you define. Exports include the calculated columns and cost codes.

What happens to the wall types and production rates we have refined for years?

You don’t have to start from scratch. Togal’s team can help migrate existing assembly libraries from PlanSwift or On-Screen Takeoff, including the formulas used in those assemblies. You can also start with an editable industry-standard template and customize it to your workflow.

How does this differ from a framing calculator or our estimating spreadsheet?

A calculator prices one wall you describe to it. Togal reads the whole set to measure dimensions on every run, then applies your assembly to each one, which removes the transcription step between the drawing and the math, along with a common source of error.

Can Togal handle a job that frames wood in one building and metal in another?

Yes. Assemblies apply per classification, so different wall types on the same project carry different material rules and stay grouped separately on export.

Where do our drawings sit, and who can open them?

Only people you invite, with permissions set per person. Bid documents stay inside that environment rather than going out to the open internet. Togal holds SOC 2 Type II certification and complies with GDPR.
