Export Quantities From Togal.AI

With AI estimating software, Togal.AI, the export feature has increased usability and function. Read further to learn more about exporting quantities outside Togal.AI.

After the quantity takeoff is complete, the next step is to export the quantities outside Togal.AI. To do that, click the Export button as shown in the picture below. 

By default, all the quantities for the drawing will start to populate.

Togal.AI’s export tool also has increased usability features. Upon clicking the export button, four tools will appear:

  • Drawing
  • Group
  • Filter
  • Columns

These tools can be used to influence the output shown. Read further to learn more about each tool.

Drawing

The Drawing tool allows estimators to add quantities from any drawing not limited to the one currently displayed. To observe the function of the  Drawing tool, click on the Drawing button and select “Preliminary Exterior Elevations” as shown below.

As a result, the quantities that will populate are from the “Preliminary Exterior Elevations” drawing only.

To include quantities from more drawings to the export, click on the “Drawing” tool.

Select the other drawings to include in the export as demonstrated below. If quantities are present in the selected drawings, they will begin to populate. In this example, the selected drawings are Preliminary Exterior Elevations, Parking lot pdf, and Foundation Plan - ES.

As a result, the quantities from these drawings appear. 

Group

The Group tool allows estimators to group quantities by drawing, classification type, classification group, breakdown tier 1, breakdown tier 2, and breakdown tier 3 as shown below.

Group by Drawings

Group the quantities by clicking on the Group button as shown below.

On the “Group by” drop-down menu, select ”Drawing.”

As a result, all the quantities are grouped by drawing.

Group the Quantities Further

It is possible to group further by clicking once again on the Group button as shown below.

Click on the “Then by” drop-down menu. The quantities can be grouped further by classification type, classification group, breakdown tier 1, breakdown tier 2, and breakdown tier 3. For this example, select “Breakdown Tier 1” as demonstrated below.

As a result, inside each grouping, the quantities are further grouped by “Breakdown Tier 1.”

Group by Breakdown

With Togal, the quantities can also be grouped by breakdown. To access the previous breakdowns created, click on the “Breakdown” button as shown in the picture below.

For this example, there’s a created breakdown for the north elevation, south elevation, east elevation, and west elevation as shown below. If none of the elevations are selected, all breakdowns are shown. 

North Elevation

If the north elevation is selected, the other breakdowns are hidden. Only the north elevation is shown.

South Elevation

If the south elevation is selected, the other breakdowns are hidden. Only the south elevation is shown.

East Elevation

If the east elevation is selected, the other breakdowns are hidden. Only the east elevation is shown.

West Elevation

If the west elevation is selected, the other breakdowns are hidden. Only the west elevation is shown.

The breakdown can be used in the grouping. To implement this, click the “Export” button as shown below. 

Click the “Group” button. 

Proceed to the “Group by” option and click the drop-down menu as shown in the picture below. For this example, use the Breakdown Tier 1 as shown in the picture.

Upon selecting the Breakdown Tier 1 option, Togal.AI separates the quantities for the north elevation, south elevation, east elevation, and west elevation as shown in this picture.

For this example, the quantities will be grouped by “Breakdown Tier 1” as shown below.

But, it’s also possible to group them by drawing and then tier one as shown in the pictures below.

Filters

To add filters, click the “Filter” button as shown below.

Select “Add Filter.”

For this example, only aim for the visibility of the “South” Breakdown.

To do this, click “Breakdown” at the bottom of the pop-up box.

 Select “South” as indicated by the cursor below.

As a result, Togal.AI will only show the quantities for the South elevation. 

Adding more than one filter

To add more than one filter, click the “Filter” button as shown in the picture.

Click “Add Filter.” 

Click “Breakdowns.”

Select “North” as shown below.

As a result, Togal.AI will show the North and South elevation after applying multiple filters.

With Togal.AI, it’s possible to apply filters or group the quantities in multiple layers.

Other Features

With just one button, Togal.AI expands all data as shown in the first picture, or collapses all data as shown in the second picture.

By clicking on the button “Show Total”, Togal.AI will show the total for every column as shown in the second picture. It’s also easy to remove the total by deselecting the same button.

Transfer Quantities to Excel

To transfer quantities to an Excel sheet, simply copy and paste the data via keyboard shortcuts, or click the Excel button at the top-right side of the screen. Read further to learn more about each approach.

Copy and Paste

To create quantities report in Excel, simply open Excel. Select the data from Togal as shown in the picture below.  Click Ctrl + C on the keyboard to copy the quantities.

Click Ctrl + V on the keyboard to paste it on the Excel sheet.

Another way to copy the data from Togal.AI to an Excel sheet is by clicking the “Excel” button. Click the green Excel button at the top right of the screen as shown below. This will create an Excel report consisting of the chosen data from Togal.AI.

Columns

The “Columns” button allows estimators to add or remove columns as shown in the two pictures below.

For example, in this picture below, the columns include Area, Area UOM, Linear, Linear UOM, and Count.

To limit the columns to Area and Area UOM only, click the “Columns” button and deselect Linear, Linear UOM, and Counts as shown below. 

As a result, Togal.AI will only show the two columns Area and Area UOM as shown in the picture.

Adjust by clicking on the “Columns” button again and clicking “Drawing.”

Or, click the “Classification Groups” as shown below.
